Customer Reviews ::
Adequate OEM replacement. Nothing more. - Theseus - Louisiana
In my search for the perfect wiper, I have only found one brand that really stands out as head and shoulders above the rest. PIAA. Unfortunately, they don't currently make wipers that fit the new style wiper arms on the 07-present GMC Sierra (and many other newer cars). That's a shame, because I can't seem to find truly superior blades from any other manufacturer. With the Trico blades, the search goes on.
The blades fit well, and the connecting mechanism is pretty good so that I don't have to worry about them coming loose from the wiper arm, unlike the Bosch blades I had immediately before these. Aside from this, though, these are fairly standard and unimpressive blades no better than the OEM blades.
The biggest problem they have is chatter. They love to bounce across the windshield making that loud drumming sound as they go. This will happen in anything less than a steady rain. So road mist or sprinkling results in intermittent, loud noise. My windshield is cleaned regularly, so it's not a matter of a thin layer of dirt triggering the oscillations in the frame. It seems to be that the blade material is sub-par, possibly just too inflexible. The material in the Bosch blades did a much better job in this regard, though the connector was poorly designed on those.
In moderate or heavy rain, they perform adequately. The colder it is outside, though, the worse they seem to do. Again, it seems that the material stiffens up too easily (sub 40 degrees, it seems). I've had these on for less than a month, though, but I'm already looking for something else.
Let's call their performance as a blade average, their noise as poor, and their cold tolerance as below average based on 4 weeks of use in a mix of snow and rain.
